Working Hard!

I have been working all day and seems like I have barely made a dent in the house! But I also did ironing, cleaning out of closets and some organizing. Stupid me, I should have gotten everything else done first! Oh well, at least I am burning some extra calories. Thank God my husband is here to help watch the kids or I would be screwed. He is napping with them now so I had to sneek off to take a blog break! LOL But if he asks I have been working the ENTIRE time! LOL That is all of the time I have for now! Have a great Saturday everyone!

I Miss You!

My eldest son is spending the night at his friends house tonight. The house seems awfully quiet without him. I know he will be back in the morning but I still miss him.

Busy Busy Me!

This is going to be quite the full weekend. I have volunteered to have Christmas at my house with my brothers and their family on Sunday. We are doing it early this year because my nephew will be getting surgery on his eardrum for the 4th or 5th time... poor guy. Anyway, I have the grocery shopping done and now I have to clean my messy house I blogged about earlier in the week. In addition I will also be getting our family portraits done on Saturday. Everyone will be coming over at 2 becuase it is a school day on Monday so I will be up super early to get the cooking all done. I will be cooking a turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus in a cheese sauce, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce and stuffing. My sister in laws will be bringing desserts. I know it is a lot to do but it will be super nice to have everyone together!

Brush your teeth!

I have had so much trouble brushing my toddlers teeth that I came up with the idea to let him brush mine. That way we can brush each others teeth. So far it has worked brilliantly! It is certainly nice to brush without a fight but it also provides him with a new learning experience.

**** YES, I do realize I look like a total doof in this picture! But just look how great of a time my honey bun is having!

So What? My House Is Messy!

I have been running myself ragged to keep the toys picked up, the counter clear, floor swept, dishes done laundry finished and dinner done! Even with my greatest attempt I cannot seem to keep up with it all. Extremely frustrating! I am sure this is a common story as I have found that there is not enough time in the day. I have been putting everyone to bed..... my babies are night owls, up until midnight.... and cleaning the house then. To wake up in the morning to find in just an hour or two it is messy again!  And my oldest son, I think he likes mess because his room is a DISASTER which he refuses to clean up. When I was working I did not have this problem (as much) because the kids were at the sitters. Worked long hours like my husband so we would pick up dinner, do baths, homework and bed not to mention it we didn't have the baby! Exactly what is it that all of you super moms/dads do? How the bloody hell do you keep up with it all?

I may be a little wound up because I do not like being at home all day staring at a mess. It makes me feel good to have a sparkling clean home. However, I know that I have an infant who is only 10wks old and an almost 2yr old (Jan 9 will be 2). Life over the next few months will be hectic but rewarding too..... if I dont let the little things like the toys on the floor and some extra crap on the counter get in the way of our happiness. I realize I cannot allow my effort to keep everything spic and span get in the way of playing, teaching, loving, and nurturing my beautiful boys. The time will come sooner than I probably want to have nothing to do but clean the house so, today I choose my boys!

So Sweet.....

I had to show this so everyone knows how blessed I am. It does not get much better than this.

I Love This, It is True!

You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.- Dr. Seuss

What Are You Bringing To That Holiday Party?

 Beverage

Frozen Whiskey Sour (Slush) - Bring life to the party!

1 1/2 c. Bourbon
1 lg. can frozen orange juice
1 lg. can frozen lemonade
7 1/2 c. water
1 c. brewed tea
1 c. sugar

Combine all ingredients. Put in large plastic pitcher and freeze. Stir occasionally to break up. Best to make about 24 hours ahead.

Side Dish

Potato Yummy - Always a favorite!

1 bag of frozen Southern Style Hash browns
1 bag (2c) shredded mild cheddar cheese
1 16oz cont. sour cream
 1 can cream of celery
2 cups corn flakes
2 tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 400 deg., Mix hash browns, shredded cheese, sour cream, and cream of celery in a big bowl and transfer to 13 x 9 casserole dish. Bake for 45 min. About half way through I usually take out of oven and stir everything up because it is somewhat difficult to do a good job in the beginning. Topping: melt butter and toss with corn flakes, spread evenly on top of casserole and bake for additional 10 min.

Dessert

    Apple Crisp - A Classic

4     medium tart cooking apples, sliced (4 cups)
3/4     cup packed brown sugar
1/2     cup flour
1/2     cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
1/3     cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4     teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4     teaspoon ground nutmeg

Heat oven to 375 Deg. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening. Spread apples in pan. In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients (except ice cream) until well mixed; sprinkle over apples. Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm with ice cream.

Dear Diary......

I could just kick myself this morning! UGH!! I got up early with baby, put him back to sleep and decided to stay up... now the boys are about to get up and I am TIRED and feeling a bit cranky!  Maybe if things go my way they will nap at the same time?? I will not be holding my breath but sometimes it works out. For now on with the coffee and Nick Jr!

Just an update as far as my toddlers potty training..... I bought the ADORBS Yo Gabba Gabba underwear and he has no interest in potty training now! After all the positive steps towards getting this done on his behalf and mentally preparing myself, he changes his mind. No biggie. As I said before, I really don't feel like potty training now anyway, so all is well!

The question of the day lies with my baby. Dr said I can start putting cereal in his milk at night if I want but I am unsure if I want to do this. I did it before at like 4 wks, thinking it was all good. I know, I should have known considering he is my third child but when you are busy your mind escapes you! Anyway, he had some tummy troubles as far as digesting it and now I am scared to give it to him. On the other hand he is a very hungry lil baby boy who gets up every 2-3 hrs still to eat (he is almost 10wks old!). I do want my sleep really bad but is it going to hurt his tummy? Hmmmmm... What to do, oh what to do?
WOW! This is like $10 cheaper than Target and Walmart! I just got one..... I know you are enlightened now that you know what I bought. LOL

Baked Potato Soup

Another delicious recipe that is easy and pretty quick to make!

Baked Potato Soup

4 large russet potatoes                         2 green onions chopped, divided
2/3c butter/margarine                           6 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled, divided
2/3c flour                                             1 1/4c shredded cheddar cheese, divided
6c milk                                                1 sm carton sour cream (optional)
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Bake potatoes as normal (oven, microwave, etc) until done. Let cool. Cut potatoes in half lengthwise and scoop out pulp. Melt butter in a heavy sauce pan over low heat, add flour whisking until smooth and cook for one minute stirring consistently. Gradually add 6c milk; stirring consistently until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Add potato pulp, salt, pepper, 2 tbsp onions, half bacon and 1cup cheese. Stir until heated. At this point you may add sour cream if desired. Remaining ingredients for garnish!

What To Get For Christmss?!?!

We are approx. 2 weeks away from Christmas and cannot think of anything to get my lil man! He is a cross between a child and a teen. He is NOT getting any video games this Christmas! So what do I get him?! Ugh! Been racking my brain and nothing comes to mind ....... other than a big lump of coal!

Yesterday

For those who are wondering how yesterday went. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be but still was a hand full. The hardest part was getting the kids from the car into the building and building to car. Imagine someone carrying a pumpkin seat on one arm and a toddler in the other. I am not sure how this always happens but I usually barely have a hold of my lil toddler and he has his legs wrapped around me to hang on for dear life. I am sure it is a sight to see considering people see me coming and they are running to open the door for me (I am thankful for this because as they can see one is going down if they don't).

Anyway, at the doctors office they have toys and a huge fish tank to entertain while we wait (which is nice). And another thing went my way, we were the only ones in the waiting room so my sons constant screams of "fishy" and "green" were unnoticed. We get called in the room find out baby is in the 75% range for height and weight, and 39% range for head. Does this mean he has a little head? Also he is (as I already knew) a strong, happy, healthy baby boy.  Unfortunately I had to bring baby in for shots too. I know it is for the best, that's why he was there, but it is terrible pain to see your lil pumpkin go from smiling and cooing to "WAAAAAA!!!" in an instant. The look of betrayal and those eyes that say "why, would you do this to me?" is just devastating. Just glad it is over with.... until next time.

Finished with the doctor, now time to pop in to say hi to the girls in the office I used to work with (same building as doc). Of course my toddler decides he will turn the lights on, off, on off. The door open, close, open, close, which has an alarm so beep, beep, beep, beep every time the door opens. Then all of a sudden runs out the door and to the elevator presses button and hops on, with me running w diaper bag, pumpkin seat, sippie cup, and purse in hand to catch up! Whew! Made it! RINGGGGG BLINGGGGG RINGGGGG he set off the alarm to the elevator! Oh my gosh, he never ceases to amaze me! But at the same time so freaking cute! Finally in the car and homeward bound we were, to fight with my oldest to do his homework...

Every day an adventure, every day a learning experience for both child and parent. I would not trade my life for all the money in the world. I strongly recommended that if you have the means to have one parent stay at home with the children to do it!

Mobile On The Run $2 Car Wash Today!

I just found out that at Mobile On The Run Car Washes are only $2 today! Apparently, they are doing this because the Rams won last night. What ever the reason, it is a freaking sweet deal!

Good Hearted

My mom and step dad dress up as Mr. and Mrs. Clause for charity. They go to different nursing homes, childrens homes and other charitable organizations to bring joy to the less fortunate.

Thrifty Mom

I have recently started grocery shopping at Aldi's in hopes to save some much needed cash. I was not looking forward to this but thought I would at the very least give it a shot. To my amazement, the quality of product (on most items) is very high and delicious. I wish I had done this sooner because at Super Walmart I would spend like $160 wk and at Aldi's I spend like $95 wk. Oh! And the quarter in the cart is awesome, because for this reason alone my 11yr old loves to come with me to the store. Funny cause I cannot get him to go to any other store without a fight. But a quarter in the darn cart will make him help me with the little ones without a fuss and get him skipping to the car to go grocery shopping! lol I now shop at Aldi's for most of my grocery's.

Nervous

I hope today goes better than I am anticipating. I am bring My baby to the doctor to get his 2 mo shots :( In addition, I will have my toddler and will be alone! I have been spoiled in the past with my sister n law down the street (on vacation now, but she sometimes watches my toddler while at appointments) or someone tagging along with me.... not today. So today will be an adventure at best!

I often wonder how people manage/survive/keep themselves mentally stable/get anything done with several children. I am freaking out cause I have to bring 2 kids out by myself. lol  I do know one thing for sure, I am done! No more kids for me! Of course I absolutely love the kids I have but my hands are completely full!

Perfect End To A Perfect Day

I was way to famished to put this up last night. My beautiful babies!

Dear Diary......

Today has been a great day! My husband was off work so we went shopping and out to the Chinese Buffet for lunch. My toddler and 9wk old both were little angels.... which is not normal for them BOTH to be so content when we go places so I am a happy mom today. In addition, I took full advantage of my husband being off work and napped with my toddler while he watched the baby. Woke up and made my family a nice home cooked meal consisting of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and Hawaiian rolls to top it off.

One item I bought today was some Yo Gabba Gabba underwear for my son (soooo freaking cute!!!). I did not want to start potty training yet, because it is going to be a pain in my rear (I know, sad excuse but it is truthful). It seems that I have no choice since he has been telling me he has to go a couple times a day and is now bothered by having a full diaper. According to his doctor, when they start doing this it is time to start potty training. I am putting forward an effort for sure but have no expectations of him yet because the doctor also says not to be pushy with boys because they teeter totter with potty training and may revert at any time.  It has been so long since I have potty trained (like 9 yrs) that I pretty much forgot what to do. I am not looking forward to this at all. --- sigh ---

Child Proof Winner

These things ROCK! My life has been hell trying to keep my toddler out of the refrigerator and cabinet drawers (especially the knife drawer). I have bought many other products in hopes that they would too work, unfortunately the did not. I got these at Target for like $5 for 2 of them. They work on refrigerators, dishwashers, toilet seats, cabinet drawers, microwaves, washers, dryers etc. -- Bottom line, 2 thumbs up!
